Our last day in Disneyland is always so sad but today was a day we just knew we would celebrate to our hearts content because we are together as a family, we have all three of our kids safely by our sides and we just needed some light after the scare from yesterday. July 14th we all excitedly but anxiously from the anxiety of the days before event headed off to the park of course taking our usual stop at the gas station for some ice.
We knew we wanted to hit up anything we hadn't done yet this trip or even ANY of the trips we have been on so of course the big white riverboat was a must. I didn't realize that Tiana would be on the boat ride with us and so my girls were in heaven and kept going back to her. It was a perfect start to our day.
Mickeys Toontown we hadn't even like walked in yet so we decided we had to at least go their and let the kids explore the houses and of course Goofys playground because that is the best part. We let the kids play to their hearts content and then of course tried to convince the kids to go on the coaster in their because we have never rode it. Brooklyn was so cute and waved and rode off thinking it was going to be awesome, little did she know it was fast and she was a bit scared but it was oh so cute. Andie said it was fun after the fact but her initial thought was it was scary and she did NOT like it haha. Jake was too chicken and absolutely refused to even attempt the coaster that's when we knew there was no point in trying the rocky mountain railroad with him (which we had fast passes for haha).
After of course meeting Goofy we decided we might as well see if we can get any other characters in while we were in Toonstown so we went for Mickey Mouse and oh boy was that line forever long. The kids enjoyed playing around in Mickeys house as we waited, it was basically impossibly hard to get pictures as they wanted to explore everything. While we were seeing Mickey there was a large fake stake of film discs so I sat on it and it made such a load noise, it was hilarious!
We wanted to do something to spoil the kids but everything is so expensive in Disneyland so as we decided what we would do we rode on it's a small world of course. We knew the girls would love the princess boutique but my goodness would that be a lot of money and we didn't know if Jake would enjoy it as much so this was a hard difficult discussion to make. We finally decided on face painting!
This is the first time anyone got their face painted so we started with Andie to see how she did. Andie was so excited and loved her paint. Jake and Brooklyn watched so intently so of course we had to give them a turn. Surprisingly both Jake and Brooklyn did amazingly well and sat SO SUPER STILL! I was actually so impressed by my kids and loved being able to get their reactions on video. They loved them!

Lunch time was about needed so we stood in line for the Nemo Submarine and ate our uncrustable PB+Js. Andie, Jake and Brooklyn got so much attention from their awesome face painting jobs, so many compliments. When we finally got on the ride the kids were loving it, fish are awesome what can we say more. Brooklyn really enjoyed it but I know all the kids did.
We of course had to bribe the kids to go on the Pirate of the Carribean ride and Jake was the hardest one to convince. We had to burn time with Autotopia and Buzz Lightyear ride first. We finally told him he would get an extra souvenir, baby baymax, he really wanted that thing. The kids were all so scared and really hated every moment but it was fun to be able to experience that. Andie, Jake and Brooklyn all stated that they refuse to ever go on that ride again even on future Disneyland trips haha.
It was getting late but we couldn't watch Fantasmic yet because we had the second showtime. So instead we got some traditional mickey shaped pretzels which were delicious! I love that we have that tradition. We then went over to the Tiki Room and Winnie the Pooh. Since the first show of Fantasmic was on we were able to stay on the Winnie the Pooh ride and go over and over and over without getting off, the kids were in pure heaven. This is a perfect time to ride that ride.
It was time to line up for Fantasmic and we were excited to show the kids the show. I know that when Andie was little she really loved it so we were curious how Jake and Brooklyn would react to it. It was perfect and even though the kids were a bit tired and it was hard to see without having them stand up on the stroller I am pretty sure all the kids enjoyed the show especially watching the big boats come through the water and the big scary dragon.
We of course had to go on lots of last minute rides before heading out of the park for the last time in who knows how long? So we let each of the kids pick one more ride. Andie chose to go on Peter Pan, Brooklyn wanted the carousel and Jake of course chose Buzz Lightyear. They were perfect family rides to end the night off with.
As we were about ready to leave the park we discovered how awesome pressed pennies are. We have always looked at the machines but had no interest in using them. Well Andie really wanted to smash a penny and Jake loves his money so of course we decided we would try it just once. Guess what? We got hooked. We loved that we were able to smash this little souvenirs and now can't wait to figure out a way to display in our home and get more on future trips. Yes we have just discovered smashing pennies and will be collecting those from now on.
