Last Summer Family Day

A new school year is just around the corner but this year is extra special because two of our kids will be going to school. Andie will being going into first grade and Jake into preschool, say what? How are they growing up so quickly?

We had to have one last summer celebration so we did a kids choice day and of course Chuck E. Cheese was on the agenda. Andie, Jake and Brooklyn all love being able to go on the rides and pick the games with prizes. It was such a fun time!

Next stop was going to be the Aquarium. We of course had to eat some food on the way over there so pizza in the van was a must. The pizza and cotton candy from the prize from Chuck E. Cheese made for a delicious lunch/dinner. When we arrived at the Aquarium it had been pouring rain and the parking lot was flooded, it was insane.

We hadn't been to the Aquarium since they opened up the butterfly display. We were excited to be able to hold the butterflies. Andie had her turn and when we tried to had it over to Jake one fell on the ground. Jake out of natural instinct and ultimate fear stomped on the poor butterfly before I had a chance to pick it up. I tried to stop him and it all happened so quick. How awkward that moment was. We never thought to have the conversation with the kids that we don't hurt the butterflies because we thought that was basic knowledge. So if you go see them, warn your kids to NOT hurt them. Gosh darn it he got scared and thought it was a bug like outside and was trying to protect himself. How was I suppose to know. Parenting fail! The most horrible part is I caught it all on video, oops. Don't worry we talked to the kids since this dramatic event.

We love going around the Aquarium and seeing all the animals. Our favorites are the otters, bridge to walk over and the ultimate giant playground. We always spend most of our time in the playground area and this time we actually were able to grab a spot on the couch, we never get a sitting spot on the couch. The kids had fun at the Aquarium, well besides the butterfly experience...

We decided it wasn't quite end of day so we could hit up one more stop. So we grabbed some ice cream cones and headed on over to Boondocks to finish off the night. Andie, Jake and Brooklyn all love the Boondocks playground (that's all we ever usually do at Boondocks). I would say after all the fun places we had visited today it was a good fun family way to end the summer. Now bring on the new school year, we are ready!
