Andie Dental Surgery

After a few weeks of waiting Andie's dreaded dental surgery date had arrived. I asked the date off of work and my boss was nice enough to let me have it even though we have been short staffed and I am off the next week for Disneyland trip.

We awoke bright and early to arrive first thing at the dental office in the hospital. I think Dad, Mom and Andie were all a bit nervous. Brooklyn and Jake were back at home being watched by Grandma. After arriving Mom started filling out paperwork while Daddy read some books to Andie to try and make her less nervous.

They took us back to the room and started up the IV on Andie's hand. I thought for sure Andie would put up a fight as just last week for a finger poke iron test we had three grown adults holding her down. Andie didn't even flinch as she got the IV placed and the dental office staff and her own parents jaws were on the floor. They were training a new dental worker and told him this never happens so don't get used to it. I was SO PROUD of my little girl!

Once the IV was placed the medication started making Andie drowsy and she fought it till the last second. They walked Mom and Dad out of course after a kiss and a goodbye. I was a nervous wreck as I thought of all the horrible things that could happen even though those chances are rare.

We went down to the cafeteria and ate some bagels and soda because what else would you have for breakfast when your daughter is in surgery? When we were finishing up to head back to the dental office we saw this little boy who looked to be about two years old holding a sign that said "cancer free" as his Mom was taking a picture of him, cutest thing ever!

Back in the dental office they were just finishing up with Andie and starting to wake her up. We awaited a bit in the waiting room and then finally got taken back to see Andie. Andie must be like Mom as she had a very hard time waking up from the anesthesia. Once we got her to take a drink they said we could take her. Andie got a cute little owl blanket to take home and as promised we told her we could get her some toys of her choice too.

We went straight way to Target as even though Andie couldn't stay awake very well she really wanted some Trolls. We picked them out, got some macaroni and cheese troll shapes and some pudding as it would be softer on her teeth. Then we went home for her to rest up the rest of the day. Andie did so amazing and I was very proud of her as she surpassed any of my expectations. I love you Andie and so happy your teeth don't hurt you anymore after so long!
